The United States government has adjusted the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payment schedule. While some recipients will receive their payments on Wednesday, November 27, 2024,, this date doesn’t apply to everyone. So, who will need to wait a bit longer?
Some retirees will miss the November 27 date. However, a second SSI payment is due on Friday, November 29. Understanding who gets paid on which date will help you know when it’s your turn.
November Payment Schedule
- Group 4 (November 27 Payment): This group includes people born between the 21st and 31st of any month who are also retired. They will receive their SSI payments on November 27.
- Groups Not Receiving Payments on November 27:
- Group 1: Those who claimed SSI before 1997.
- Group 2: Individuals born between the 1st and 10th of any month.
- Group 3: Those born between the 11th and 20th of any month.
These groups have already received their payments earlier in November. They will wait until December for the next installment unless they qualify for the November 29 SSI payment.
Extra Payment on November 29
An additional Social Security payment will be made to SSI recipients on Friday, November 29. This final payment of the month benefits those 65 or older, retired, or disabled, providing extra financial aid ahead of the Christmas period.
December Payment Schedule
Due to the holidays, the December payment schedule has key dates:
- November 29: SSI payment for December (since December 1 is a holiday).
- December 3: Payment for retirees who started receiving benefits before May 1997.
- December 11, 18, 24: Payments for retirees who started after May 1997, depending on their birth date.
- December 24: Early payment for December 25 due to Christmas.
- December 31: Extra SSI payment for January due to the January 1 holiday.
By checking the calendar, you can determine when to expect your benefits. If you have Direct Deposit activated, the money appears immediately. Without it, you may have to wait a few days for the funds to reach your bank account.
